Rookie underwent surgery on broken collarbone earlier this week.
Current MX2 points-leader Kayd Kingsford enters today’s Gillman round of the 2026 Penrite ProMX Championship under an injury cloud – intending to line up despite breaking his collarbone and undergoing surgery on Wednesday.
The Attards Honda Racing rider has been a standout across the opening two rounds of his rookie season in the professional ranks, but will now be forced to try and salvage points in South Australia if he can go on to complete the motos.
“Unfortunately on Wednesday – last day of riding before this race – I had a bit of contact with another rider and yeah, crashed, had an injury to my collarbone,” Kingsford told MotoOnline. “I snapped that, so that required surgery.
“I was lucky enough to get straight into a surgeon that night and that kind of kept my chances of this weekend going, salvaging some points. So surgery Wednesday night and the last few days have been pretty rough, but we’re just going to come out here this weekend, see how it feels, and get as many points as we possibly can.
“It’s definitely going to be tough… I’m sore, stiff, all of the above, as you know, but hopefully get out there, get going fast, adrenaline takes over and we’ll see what we can do. You know, I might get out there and might be better than I think, so we’ll just play it by ear. As of now, I’m pretty sore and we’ll just see how it goes.”
Kingsford is lining up in practice and qualifying this morning, prior to evaluating if he will be able to contest the pair of MX2 motos at round three of the season.
