Adds World Supercross to schedule in SX2 for this season.
Australian international Jake Cannon has signed a contract extension with Venum Bud Racing Kawasaki, set to remain with the French team for the 2027 EMX250 championship, in addition to lining up in World Supercross this year.
In his second season at the Stephane Dasse-led operation, Cannon has so far delivered double victories at the Trentino and German rounds, while a further two podium finishes see him ranked second in the overall classification after eight rounds.
The extension follows an impressive step forward from his eighth-place finish in last year’s series – highlighted by a podium in Great Britain – with the 18-year-old now committed to the team through the 2027 season.
“I’m very happy to continue for one more season with Bud and Kawasaki, who gave me the chance to race in Europe two years ago,” commented Cannon. “It’s never easy to adapt to new tracks, new people, different food and so on, but I must say that the team has always been behind me.
“A lot of progression has been made from last year, but I am excited for more – I have more experience and for sure working in the same environment will allow me to get the best results.”
Dasse added: “We are very happy to continue with Jake for the 2027 season so he can have another year fighting for the win. He’s getting ever more used to racing in Europe, and I think it’s the right time for him to do one last season in EMX250 to be fully prepared for the next stage of his career.
“Jake will also be competing in the WSX World Supercross Championship in the 250 class with us, as his future career could take him to either Europe or the United States. Jake is a great guy, a hard worker, and we really enjoy having him on our team.”
Cannon will make his American Pro Motocross 250MX debut at Southwick this weekend, before the EMX250 series resumes at Lommel on August 2, with Cannon set for a quick turnaround ahead of the WSX opener in Calgary one week later.
