MX1 rookie Frossard took his maiden win at his home GP in France.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Steven Fossard and CLS Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Tommy Searle have emerged victorious in their respective classes of the French Grand Prix at Saint Jean D’Angely, site of round five of the FIM World Motocross Championships.

The MX1 class saw French rookie Frossard take his maiden win at his home track.

After struggling somewhat in qualifying, Frossard put it together when it counted to win the first race and back it up with a runner up finish in the second, giving him the overall victory for the day.

Following Frossard for second overall was Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Antonio Cairoli.

Admitting he does not feel fully fit, Cairoli is happy with the day’s result, as it closes the points gap between himself and champoionship leader Clement Desalle.

Rockstar Energy Suzuki World MX1’s Desalle was dissapointed after taking third overall in France.

Despite dominating the second race, an incident with another rider in turn two of race one saw him take an 11th place moto score, giving away vital points to Cairoli.

The MX2 class saw Britain’s Tommy Searle grab his first win of the season. Despite commenting that it was his worst GP so far this year, he credited his team with making some great changes to the bike to allow him to take the overall victory.

Bike-It Cosworth Wild Wolf Yamaha’s Zach Osborne took second at Saint Jean D’Angely, marking the American’s first MX2 podium of the season.

Although dealing with a fractured right wrist, Osborne commented that he was a little disappointed with the finish, after missing the win by only three points.

Monster Energy Yamaha’s Gautier Pauline was just pipped by Osborne to take third for the day. Pauline admitted to making some mistakes throughout the two races, but the French rider was happy to step onto the podium, especially in front of a home crowd.

The French GP marked the MX2 podium being devoid of orange for the first time, as Red Bull Teka KTM Factory Racing’s Jeffrey Herlings and Ken Roczen could only manage fourth and fifth respectively on the day.

The MX1 championship sees Desalle continue to lead after round five, holding a six point lead over Cairoli, while Roczen continues to head the MX2 title chase with a 13 point buffer over his team mate Herlings.
