Monster Energy Yamaha’s Dean Ferris will return to the FIM Motocross World Championship MX2 field in Italy this weekend after completing his recovery from a broken right collarbone.
The Australian rider was sidelined in mid-March when he cross-rutted and crashed while in a top five placing in the opening round of the Dutch Motocross Championship at Halle.
After scoring a podium at the opening round in Losail and showing similar strong form in Thailand, 22-year-old Ferris’ run of results was halted, though he hopes to be back to his best at Arco di Trento.
Missing the GP of the Netherlands despite a valiant effort to ride early on in the weekend, Ferris has dropped to eighth place on the MX2 points ladder but can make back a number of placings in Italy with positions five through to 10 separated by only 12 points.
KTM’s Jeffery Herlings will carry the class red-plate in Italy after a dominant start to the year.
