New motocross line designed for intermediate to hard-packed terrain.
Dunlop has introduced its all-new Geomax MX54 line of motocross tyres, building on the established MX53 platform with an updated tread design, improved traction and increased durability to deliver greater versatility across intermediate and hard-packed track conditions.
Designed for riders competing and training on increasingly demanding surfaces, the MX54 has been developed to maintain consistent grip as circuits dry out and become firmer, while retaining the adaptability required for softer terrain.
A key development is an increased land ratio, providing additional rubber contact with the ground to improve performance on hard-packed surfaces. The revised tread pattern also features fewer blocks with wider spacing between them, helping maintain traction when conditions become softer or more unpredictable.
Dunlop’s Multiple Block Distribution (MBD) technology further enhances rider feedback and ground contact feel, with an optimised arrangement of tread blocks extending from the centre towards the shoulder of the tyre. This configuration is designed to provide a more predictable response as riders transition through different lean angles.
Select rear tyre sizes also benefit from Dunlop’s High-Resilience Rubber Compound (H-RRC), which combines advanced polymers with fine-particle carbon technology to improve traction, wear resistance and long-term performance.
Rear tread blocks have also been increased in height by approximately five per cent compared to the outgoing MX53, providing additional biting edges for improved drive and durability across a variety of track surfaces.
Another notable addition is Dunlop’s Progressive Cornering Block Technology (PCBT Advanced), which incorporates a two-step rear tread block design. By allowing controlled block flex while increasing the effective edge contact, the system aims to improve slide control and cornering grip under acceleration.
Together, the developments position the Geomax MX54 as a more versatile option for motocross riders seeking reliable performance across intermediate to hard-packed conditions, while building on the grip and durability that established the MX53 as a popular choice.
