Round seven of the Penrite ProMX Championship delivered another impressive weekend for Quad Lock Honda Racing Australia, with the team claiming six race victories across four championship classes and six overall podium finishes, reinforcing Honda’s position as one of the strongest teams in Australian motocross.

While the results showcased the speed of the Honda riders and machinery, the weekend also confirmed that the team’s remarkable run of consecutive MX1 Championships will come to an end.

Team Director Yarrive Konsky was quick to acknowledge the achievement of the new champions.

“Firstly, I want to congratulate Jed Beaton, Craig Dack and the entire CDR Monster Energy Yamaha team. Winning a championship at this level requires an enormous amount of work, commitment and consistency. They’re deserving champions.”

“The reality is, over the past two seasons we achieved something incredibly special by winning every championship in every class. This year has reminded us how difficult that really is. To win championships, everything has to align, speed, preparation, reliability, health and a little bit of luck. We’ve had the speed all season, but we’ve also made mistakes as riders and as a team. That’s racing, and we’ll learn from it.”

Hosted at the iconic Connondale Motocross Park, thousands of fans packed the circuit to witness one of the biggest crowds of the season, with the famous Queensland venue producing spectacular racing across every class.

Crawford Claims First MX1 Victory

The Quad Lock Honda riders dominated the premier MX1 class, winning both motos.

Nathan Crawford celebrated the biggest moment of his MX1 career, taking his maiden premier-class race victory in Moto 1 before a crash in the second moto denied him the overall win.

“Winning my first MX1 race means everything,” Crawford said.

“It’s my third full season in the 450 class, and joining Honda has completely changed my confidence. It reminds me I made the right decision. I’m disappointed about the crash in Moto 2 because I felt capable of winning the overall, but it’s also proof we’re heading in the right direction as I am able to push like I haven’t been able to before.”

Reigning MX1 Champion Kyle Webster responded after a difficult opening moto with an outstanding ride in Race 2, charging from fourth to victory to remind everyone why he remains one of Australia’s fastest riders.

“I’ve been managing the shoulder since my crash in America, and honestly I haven’t been as strong as I’d like,” Webster explained.

“My physio worked on me between motos and I felt much better for Race 2. I also want to congratulate Jed, championships are never handed to you. My focus now is finishing the season strongly before deciding on surgery and what’s next/ I need surgery, its just whether or not I prolong it and do some more racing.”

Honda Continues MX2 Dominance

Honda’s unbeaten run in the MX2 Championship continued, with the manufacturer now claiming victory at all seven rounds this season.

Kayd Kingsford won the opening moto ahead of teammate Alex Larwood before multiple incidents in Race 2 limited him to ninth. His consistency was still enough to secure third overall while extending his advantage over third place in the championship standings.

Larwood responded with victory in Moto 2 to claim another overall win, further strengthening his championship lead heading into the final round.

Ryder Kingsford continued his recent improvement with one of his strongest performances of the season, finishing fourth overall after racing with the lead group throughout the weekend.

The Factory Quad Lock Honda Team finished first, third and fourth overall in MX2.

Fisher Keeps MX3 Championship Dream Alive

In MX3, Heath Fisher continued his championship charge with another podium finish.

After leading the opening moto, Fisher settled into second before a poor start in Race 2 forced him to fight through the field to sixth, his 2-6 race finishes were enough for third on the day.

Despite the frustration, Fisher extended his championship advantage over third place and remains firmly in contention entering the final round.

“Race 2 was definitely a missed opportunity,” Fisher admitted.

“After qualifying I honestly needed a kick up the backside. We turned things around in Moto 1, but a poor start in Race 2 made life difficult. The speed was there to finish further again, I gave points away this weekend.”

Honda’s Ride Red Pro Honda Racing rider Seth Morrow continued his outstanding late-season form, claiming the overall victory with a perfect 1-1 scorecard after repeating the feat from Round 6.

“The team believed in me before the season started,” Morrow said.

“A few bad races hurt my championship, but I’m still fighting for an overall podium and that’s exactly what I intend to do.”

Reigning MXW Champion – Cannon Pushes Through Pain

Quad Lock Honda’s Charli Cannon once again demonstrated incredible determination, racing through significant pain to finish second overall with a pair of runner-up finishes.

Still recovering from a fractured scapula, Cannon refused to let injury define her championship.

“Breaking my shoulder certainly wasn’t part of the plan,” Cannon said.

“The last two seasons have been incredibly tough physically, but I’ll keep giving everything I’ve got. That’s all I can ask of myself.”

Looking Ahead

With one round remaining, Honda Racing Australia continues to lead the MX2 Championship while remaining firmly in the fight across multiple classes.

Konsky believes the season has reinforced one important lesson.

“Success can never be taken for granted. We’ve celebrated incredible highs over the past few years, and this season has challenged us in different ways. What I’m proud of is the resilience of our riders and staff. We’ve continued to learn, continued to improve and continued to race hard. That’s the culture we’ve built, and that’s the culture that will drive us into the future.”

Honda Racing Australia now turns its attention to the final round of the Penrite ProMX Championship at Queensland Moto Park next weekend.
