Newly-crowned Australian MX2 champion Alex Larwood is set to contest the final three rounds of Pro Motocross 2026 in the United States, joining Quad Lock Honda for Unadilla, Budds Creek and the Ironman finale.

The 22-year-old South Australian will enter the 250MX division, making his American debut after clinching his first-career professional championship at Queensland Moto Park (QMP) on Sunday.

“I can switch my focus to that now,” Larwood told MotoOnline. “Obviously, we’d been planning this for probably two to three months previous to this, and yeah, now that this is all wrapped up, I can move on to that.

“That’s going to be an experience in itself – obviously going up against the world’s best – and I’m just looking forward to the experience. I haven’t really raced over there before, so every race is going to be something new, and I’m going to be able to learn a lot of things that I’ll probably be able to bring back next year.”

Larwood remains measured in his approach, acknowledging that the American summer has challenged plenty of domestic riders making appearances Stateside – particularly after racing through the Australian winter.

“Yeah, I mean, most would have to be satisfied with a top-10, but I mean, realistically, like top-15, top-10 – there’s a lot of things to learn,” he added. “The heat’s going to be a big factor, I think anyway. I’m not really used to anything like that, going from our winter to their summer.”

Honda Racing teammate Kayd Kingsford has also been linked to additional starts in the US, but has indicated that if those plans were to eventuate, they would likely come in the SMX Next class during the Monster Energy SMX World Championship post-season.

“There are a few SMX future races in SMX that could be on the cards, but I don’t know how much I’m allowed to say,” he commented. “But yeah, there’ll be hopefully some American stuff coming up here shortly. Our main focus now is supercross – even SMX is pretty much supercross – so that’s where our focus shifts to.”
