Australian teenager Byron Dennis is set to make select appearances in the EMX250 Championship as part of an ongoing motocross program that will lead into the Shanghai and Darwin rounds of the 2026 MX2 World Championship.

After completing the domestic MX2 series in fourth overall, the 19-year-old KTM Racing Team regular has revealed following the Queensland Moto Park (QMP) finale that he will be travelling to Europe this week, before debuting in EMX at the MXGP of Sweden on August 15-16.

“Heading over to go do a couple of EMXs here in the next couple of weeks,” Dennis told MotoOnline. “So, [we’ll] go over there racing and then finish it off with China and Darwin with the team here. I’m pretty happy with that, but yeah… go over there and see what we can do.

“I think the Euro scene is unreal and [EMX250] is such a strong championship. I feel like it’s a good way to put your foot in the door sort of thing and get in and show that you can ride and show your potential. I’m hoping that I can go over there and be up there with the boys, and get some good experience and intensity out of it – see where it goes from there.”

Following his EMX excursion this month, Dennis will then enter the MXGP of China (September 13) and MXGP of Australia (September 20) in MX2 for the second year in a row within his usual KTM Racing Team. He finished 16th overall in Shanghai and 14th in Darwin last season.

With KTM set to be absent from Townsville’s Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross season-opener on October 3, Dennis will instead later turn his attention to preparing for the Auckland round of AUSX – anticipated to be the first ‘Australian championship’ round – at North Harbour Stadium on October 31.

“Yeah, look, I’m not too stressed about [supercross preparation],” he continued. “I think there’s six weeks to Auckland from Darwin, so like, you know, six weeks is plenty enough for a month’s championship. So when I get home, I’ll get straight into supercross, knock out some laps, and we’ll worry about that then.”
