Triumph Factory Racing’s Guillem Farres made history in delivering the British manufacturer victory in the 2026 MX2 World Championship, after a season of wins and consistency ultimately carried the Spaniard to the crown at the Darwin decider. In this Debrief feature, the 23-year-old reflects on completing a remarkable rise to become world champion and the season that resulted in the biggest achievement of his career.

The feeling of being MX2 world champion

It feels pretty good, I’m not going to lie. It was a good weekend. I mean, yesterday I had a solid qualifying moto, and today I got off to a good start. Camden [McLellan] passed me in the second corner, and from there I just followed him. He had a good pace – I could not pass him, so second was really good for me. Second moto was a little bit of the same strategy. Bit of a difficult start, but I was riding comfortably and, at one point, Camden passed me and I just stayed there.

The approach for the final round

I approached the race like always. I mean, yeah, we can say we joke around a lot, me and Camden and stuff. So maybe this weekend was a bit too much, but yeah, it was all right.

When the thought of winning became real

Going into the season, we had a great winter. We worked a lot off and on the bike. We got some improvements on the bike, and me and Camden, we always push each other to the limit off the bike and on the bike. We had a great winter. I mean, Clement also pushes us a lot and he gives us a lot of shit, so it worked out pretty good.

MXGP next season

I mean, I have some work to do. I have to get stronger and have to start with the bike also. But yeah, the goal is always the same. The goal is to win, but for sure I’m going to have to learn a lot of things and, yeah, we’ll see how it goes.

MXoN coming up

Yeah, we have a pretty good team. Jorge [Prado] is doing really good. He had a really good race today, and the last outdoors he’s been really fast. Francisco [Garcia] also had a great season and, obviously, the Nations is a really special race and a lot of things always happen. But for sure, I know that we’re going to give our all and we’re going to be battling for the podium.
