Captured: 2026 AUSX Rd2 Auckland

Unpacking moments and narratives that shaped the weekend.

Round two of the 2026 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship saw the series cross the Tasman to Auckland, New Zealand, with nearly 18,000 fans packing North Harbour Stadium for an action-packed night of racing. Revisit the event through our Captured feature, highlighting the defining moments from the weekend in illustrated form.

The three SX1 podium finishers – Ken Roczen, Christian Craig and Luke Clout – share a moment of respect following the third and final race.

Elbows were up all night in the SX2 division! It was great to have Honda Racing’s Ryder Kingsford back in the mix, with the defending champion picking up right where he left off last year – battling it out with Lux Turner.

A strong contingent of privateers made the trip across the Tasman for round two of AUSX, keeping the inaugural privateer championship battle alive.

It was always going to be a tall order for any rider to take on the likes of Ken Roczen, the reigning Monster Energy Supercross 450SX champion. On that note, his highly anticipated new deal was announced midway through AUSX press day on Friday, making for some interesting timing in other parts of the world. The good news is that Roczen will indeed run the number one plate aboard his RM-Z450 next year.

New Quad Lock Honda recruit Cameron McAdoo was significantly stronger aboard his CRF250R in New Zealand from Townsville, posting a 2-2-2 scorecard to secure second overall. However, he was still some way off reigning 250SX East champion Cole Davies. If McAdoo is to become a genuine title contender in the US next year, he’ll need to unlock another level of speed to match the teenage sensation.

Speaking of Davies, he was untouchable all day long. In fact, the only thing that nearly brought him unstuck was his Star Racing YZ250F, which didn’t arrive until Saturday morning – race day! Talk about cutting it fine, with everyone involved no doubt breathing a sigh of relief.

Auckland was a relatively quiet outing for Stark Future Racing, with Vince Friese and Michael Hicks leading the charge after each securing seventh overall in the SX1 and SX2 divisions, respectively.

The injury toll climbed quickly in Auckland, with Jed Beaton, Hayden Mellross, Dylan Wills and Matt Moss among the casualties. A tough blow for both the riders and their teams, with a quick turnaround ahead of this weekend’s Geelong round. We’ll have to wait and see who is fit to line up when the gates drop.

Nearly 18,000 fans turned out for AUSX in Auckland!

Monster Energy WBR Yamaha’s Jack Deveson delivered a career night inside North Harbour Stadium, sweeping all three SMX Next races to claim the overall victory. This is exactly what you love to see from the developmental category, with Deveson – among others – highlighting the depth of talent across the Oceania region.

Things nearly took a turn for the worse for SX1 title contender Luke Clout, whose machine appeared to have trouble firing as he and the team worked to bump-start it ahead of the opening SX1 final. Thankfully, crisis was averted for the number four, who went on to claim the holeshot in that very race!
