Unpacking moments and narratives that shaped the weekend.
The Unadilla National hosted round nine of the 2026 Pro Motocross Championship, with the iconic New York venue producing a dramatic weekend across both 450MX and 250MX. Revisit the action through our Captured feature, highlighting the defining moments from the weekend in illustrated form.
Unadilla’s first turn is a right-hander, although plenty of riders inadvertently went straight on during the second 250MX moto. Among those caught up in the chaos were Levi Kitchen and Julien Beaumer.
The 2020 450MX champion Zach Osborne returned to racing at Unadilla, kicking off what will be a three-round Pro Motocross cameo with the Liqui Moly Beta Factory Racing outfit.
Four-time world champion Jorge Prado finally demonstrated his true potential at Unadilla, with the Spaniard much improved in New York after making substantial changes to his bike over the break. The turnaround was evident in his performance, as he secured second overall.
The 450MX championship picture changed dramatically within the space of a couple of hours, with Hunter Lawrence following up his moto one victory with a DNF in race two. He went from holding a 15-point advantage to trailing Jett by 10 with four races remaining.
15 licence-point penalties were handed out for track infringements in section 11 of the circuit, where Michael Mosiman is pictured above. While he wasn’t among those penalised, it’s interesting to consider what triggered so many off-track excursions through the opening 250MX and 450MX motos.
One point is the gap between Levi Kitchen and Cole Davies in 250MX. It’s a showdown, and may the best man win.
Double Australian 250cc champion Brodie Connolly claimed sixth overall at Unadilla, showcasing his potential after a difficult 12 months disrupted by injury. He also re-passed Kitchen for fifth on the final lap of moto two, adding another highlight to an encouraging weekend.
Unadilla is one of the most picturesque venues on the Pro Motocross calendar. The circuit itself is a beast to conquer, but the surrounding scenery of upstate New York is hard to beat.
Both Australian Motocross champions Jed Beaton and Alex Larwood lined up at Unadilla, with each impressing as they battled inside the top 10. Beaton, in particular, showed strong pace in moto two, running as high as fourth, while Larwood secured 10th in the final 250MX race.
It was another convincing 1-1 for Lachlan Turner, moving her one step closer to defending her WMX championship with just two rounds remaining.
