Defending MX Nationals Champion Jay Marmont won a record third Manjimup 15,000 on Sunday.
Triple Australian Motocross Champion Jay Marmont made history in Western Australia yesterday by capturing a record third overall win in the Manjimup 15,000.
Marmont had previously won the event in 2003 and 2007, the CDR Rockstar Energy Yamaha making a return to the event in 2011 to take victory in memory of late Western Australian motocross star Paul Broomfield.
Out of the trio of races contested for the title in the sand at Cosy Creek, Marmont won two of the three motos to take the overall ahead of British Motocross contender Bryan Mackenzie and local favourite Michael Addison.
Another British title contender in Jamie Law was fourth overall, while local KTM rider Louis Calvin completed the top five overall for the weekend.
A moment’s silence was had early in the day in memory of Broomfield, himself a former winner of the Manjimup 15,000, and Marmont later dedicated his victory to Broomfield.
Marmont’s Manjimup 15,000 win broke his tie with team boss Craig Dack and the legendary Jeff Leisk in winning the event, that pair tied on two wins apiece.
