Team USA’s Chance Hymas has been ruled out of the 2026 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations (MXoN) after sustaining multiple small fractures in his left wrist during practice at this weekend’s SMX Final in Ridgedale.

Hymas over-jumped a triple in Friday’s free practice at the Monster Energy SMX World Championship decider, initially jamming his wrist in the impact before further evaluation revealed the extent of the injury.

The 21-year-old has been subsequently ruled out of the SMX Final, while a CT scan uncovered fractures to two bones and raised concern surrounding potential ligament damage. It is unclear who will be available to replace him on Team USA next weekend in Ernee, France.

“A slight mistake yesterday and I over-jumped the triple, jammed my left wrist pretty bad,” Hymas explained. “But after further evaluation a CT scan showed small fractures in two wrist bones and it raised concern about an injured ligament between the bones.

“We’ve had to make the difficult decision to withdraw from MXoN. There are a lot of people involved in this decision, and so many factors that have to be considered beyond just me.

“I will always step up for my country. This decision is about giving Team USA the best possible chance at a great result – I know I wouldn’t be at 100 percent, and I don’t believe that would be fair to Coop, Levi, or the entire USA team. Representing my country is something I will always be proud of, and this was an incredibly difficult decision to make.”

Honda HRC Progressive regular Hymas – due to be replaced by Julien Beaumer in Team USA – had been selected to make his long-awaited MXoN debut in the MXGP category at Ernee, France, next weekend, alongside MX2 entry Levi Kitchen and Open rider Cooper Webb.

It marks a second late MXoN withdrawal for Hymas, who was also originally selected to represent Team USA in 2024 before injury prevented him from lining up. Team USA finished runner-up at Ironman Raceway last year and will now be required to name a replacement for Hymas ahead of the October 2-4 event.
