Quad Lock Honda’s Joey Savatgy will contest the 2026 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship as part of a stacked factory roster, the American aiming to regain the SX1 title that he won two seasons ago when he last lined up in Australia.

The 32-year-old Georgia native Savatgy will reunite with Honda Racing – both associated teams under the ownership of Yarrive Konsky – for the season ahead.

“Coming back to Australia as a former champion makes this one pretty special,” Savatgy said. “I had a great experience racing the championship in 2024 and we achieved what we came there to do.

“The level of competition this year is huge and I know what it takes to win this championship. I’m looking forward to getting back with Honda, starting strong in Townsville and fighting for it again.”

The addition of Savatgy sees him named alongside American teammate Christian Craig and defending AUSX champion Dean Wilson, who is currently recovering from a broken shoulder sustained earlier this month. US-based 250 team rider Brodie Connolly – as well as the incoming Cameron McAdoo and potentially Michael Mosiman – have also been rumoured for Australia.

It is unclear if the entire Quad Lock Honda team will complete the full five-round series, or instead have each rider on rotation over the course of the AUSX championship. The uncertainty surrounding the World Supercross Championship (WSX) season further complicates the matter.

“To bring Joey back after what he achieved with us in 2024 is significant,” Konsky commented. “He knows this championship, he knows what it takes to win here, and he immediately strengthens our program.

“With Joey back alongside Dean, Christian and Nathan, we’ve got real depth across the season. The competition is going to be serious, and that’s exactly what we want. We’re here to race, to win and to put on a show for the fans.”

Honda Racing will also field its local line-up of Nathan Crawford – himself sustaining a knee injury in the pre-season – in SX1, alongside the SX2 effort of defending champion Ryder Kingsford, last year’s SX3 winner Kayd Kingsford, and new national MX2 champion Alex Larwood. Both Kingsfords are tipped to be in America from 2027 on different manufacturers.
