Nestaan Husqvarna's Liam Everts on Uddevalla podium.
A challenging 2026 MX2 campaign has begun to turn around for Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Liam Everts, with the Belgian finding renewed form and added confidence on his way to second overall at Uddevalla over the weekend. In this Debrief feature, Everts reflects on his Swedish GP performance and the continued search for improvements as the season progresses.
Second overall in Sweden
I was up there all weekend. I felt really strong, really good, and I just came up just one second short. So, yeah, we were riding at a high pace all weekend and, unfortunately for me, Sacha [Coenen] didn’t make the mistakes that I was hoping for. So, I was pushing till the end and, yeah, ended up in second.
2026 season so far
It’s been an up-and-down season. Struggling with the bike or myself, or just things happening outside of my control. So, yeah, we made some changes on the bike, definitely improved this weekend, and we’ll see what it can do in Arnhem.
Looking ahead to Arnhem
Definitely looking forward to it. Short drive. Yeah, just looking forward to it. Last sand race of the year and hoping to make it a good one.
The recent surge in form
What would I put that down to? Evolution of time, I guess. Just improving myself, getting things right again, changing some setup on the bike, building in confidence again. Like I said before, it wasn’t the easiest of seasons. I think today was a really good shot for getting that first [win] of the season, but [Sacha] was there, [laughs]…. Maybe next weekend.
Bike set-up
Basically what I was looking for this weekend. Definitely feeling good and, yeah, I always like these tracks, you know, low grip. You need to have a lot of throttle control, it’s not easy. But, yeah, they prepped a lot of the outside berms and felt like that put everybody closer together, if that makes sense. In the beginning of the moto, the track wasn’t as hard as it was yesterday. It felt like there were a lot of guys so comfortable – okay, it was really sketchy in places, but then again it separates the field again. I didn’t see many passes today… let’s put it that way.
