1-1-1 in Portugal

It’s always really nice to have a perfect weekend. It’s my first ever perfect weekend, so it’s great. The Portugal GP is also special for me because it’s close to Spain, so I have my family here and a bunch of friends. It was a great weekend overall. It feels nice to go into a GP knowing that we have a good base setup, and I haven’t changed a thing the whole weekend. That gives me a lot of extra confidence when riding.

Racing close to home

Yeah, it’s lovely. It’s nice to get my family to come to some races. I also had some friends show up as a surprise. It was a great weekend, and it’s always nice to do it in front of the people you love.

Overall feeling on the Triumph

I mean, we did a lot of work this winter and, for some reason, I missed the sand testing. We had a little bit of a delay, so I had to do it right before Riola. But yeah, we also had a good setup and every time I ride a hard-pack track, like Montevarchi last weekend, I don’t think I’ve touched a single clicker the whole year, maybe. That’s great because I can just focus on my riding and my lines. It’s awesome.

Keeping the momentum rolling

The most important thing is not winning every weekend. Everything is easy on your good days, but on the bad days is when the real champion shows up. You have to minimise those bad days. I was just a little bit mad last week in Montevarchi because I felt like I could have battled up front again, but I made a mistake on the first lap and went down. I ruined my chances, so I was just mad about that.

Suiting the Agueda track

Not really. I like it more when we have deep ruts and stuff. But yeah, I’ve been feeling great. Last week I was also pretty fast in Montevarchi, and there were no ruts. I’m just trying to be fast on every surface. That’s the goal.
