Captured: 2026 MXGP Rd3 Switzerland

Unpacking moments and narratives that shaped the weekend.

Unpack round three of the 2026 MXGP World Championship at Frauenfeld with our Captured content feature, which defines a series of moments and narratives that shaped the event in illustration form.

The tough start to the 2026 world championship season continued for the Red Bull Ducati Factory MXGP Team in Switzerland, with Calvin Vlaanderen’s 10-8 moto results and ninth overall the high score for the Italian outfit. Not even a return home for Swiss rider Jeremy Seewer could turn his fortunes around – he finished 15th overall on the Desmo450 MX.

It was a mixed weekend for Triumph Factory Racing at the third round, with Guillem Farres claiming the second MX2 race win and second overall aboard his TF 250-X. He’s now ranked P2 in the standings, which is a solid outcome for the British manufacturer!

The MX2 red plate returns to defending class champion Simon Laengenfelder’s Red Bull KTM 250 SX-F.

More on the factory Triumph team, it was a weekend to forget for the previous round winner, Camden McLellan. Poor starts coupled with a big crash in moto two saw him credited 13th overall, and tumble to P4 in the standings. He added the following post-event: “Thankfully, nothing is broken, so now the focus is on recovering over the next couple of weeks and coming back strong in Riola Sardo to build back up in the championship.”

Tom Vialle is an MXGP premier class winner! His 1-6 scores were a strange way to claim the top position, with even he admitting surprise: “I really didn’t know that I had won when I crossed the line.”

Monster Energy Yamaha Factory MXGP Team’s Maxime Renaux delivered a strong P2 performance in Frauenfeld, ending the event on equal points with new teammate Tim Gajser. He’s one point ahead of the five-time world champion in the series, with this intra-team rivalry an interesting watch.

Nestaan Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Liam Everts found the MX2 podium in Switzerland via 3-2 moto scores.

A solid message from the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing Team to star rider Lucas Coenen. Anyone who believes motocross to be an individual sport needs only to look at the passion on the team personnel’s faces.

Despite disqualification in race one – thanks to outside assistance after a derailed chain on lap one – Coenen rallied to P1 in race two, continuing his grasp of the MXGP red-plate by seven points over Vialle.

Defending MXGP champion Romain Febvre admitted that he just wasn’t quite good enough at round three. It’s an honest admission for the current number one, who is ranked P6 in the standings.

The Red Bull KTM Factory Racing outfit was dressed in Motorex colours to celebrate the lubricant’s home grand prix. Though looking the part, the third round was a difficult outing for MXGP newcomer Andrea Adamo, who was one of the riders to suffer a chain problem in the opening encounter.

Joining Adamo and Coenen as part of the moto one chain-gate was Jeffrey Herlings, who exited the race altogether and scored zero points after earning all 10 in the qualification outing on Saturday. P3 in moto two was a solid rebound, although Herlings was quick to put the event – and venue – in the rear view: “Overall, not really a positive weekend and I’m glad this circuit is only on the calendar once.”

The Ducati Desmo250 MX achieved its first podium in the EMX250 division courtesy of Beddini Racing Ducati Factory Team’s Simone Mancini’s second overall.
