Current SX2 world champion Max Anstie will contest the opening round of the 2026 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship in Townsville, aligning with MXRP Yamaha this Saturday night, October 3, at Queensland Country Bank Stadium.

British international Anstie opened his 2026 WSX title defence on top of the podium by winning the opening round of the season in Canada last month, and will carry that form into the Australian series.

It’s unclear if Anstie will line-up beyond round one of AUSX in North Queensland – already committed to ClubMX Racing Yamaha in Monster Energy Supercross and the wider SMX World Championship next season – but his presence will make for a high-profile addition to Townsville.

“I love racing in Australia and I’m really excited to be coming back,” Anstie commented. “I’ve had some great memories and success there over the years, and the fans have always been awesome to me.

“I really appreciate the opportunity to come back and race AUSX with MXRP Yamaha. It’s a great championship and the level of competition this year is going to be strong. I’m excited to get up to Townsville, get back behind the gate in Australia, and hopefully put on a great show for the fans.”

Anstie previously captured the 2022 and 2023 Australian SX2 championships back-to-back during an extended stint in AUSX competition, with MXRP founder Daniel Kersnovske excited at the opportunity to enter a world champion this weekend.

“We’re incredibly excited to welcome Max to Australia and to work alongside him at the opening round in Townsville,” Kersnovske explained. “He’s a world champion with extensive experience at the highest levels of motocross and supercross, and he brings a wealth of knowledge to our team.

“Working with riders of Max’s calibre is exactly what drives MXRP forward – continually learning, developing and pushing the standard of what we do. We’re proud to be part of Max’s Australian campaign and can’t wait to see him line up behind the gate in Townsville. Let’s get to work.”
