Privateer team Rising Motorsports has revealed it will close at the conclusion of the 2025 season, officially calling time on its involvement in Australian motocross and supercross competition.

Ran by Gavin Fuller and Mel Baker, Rising has been a mainstay in the ProMX and AUSX paddocks for close to a decade, providing a professional platform for privateer riders to race at the top level.

“On behalf of Gav and Mel, we would like to announce that Rising Motorsports will not be competing in the ProMX Series in 2026,” a statement announced.

“Firstly, we want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible team members and their families, the heart and soul of what we proudly call our extended family. Your dedication, passion, and commitment have been the driving force behind everything we’ve achieved.

“We also want to take a special moment to thank the original members of Rising Motorsports and their families, who helped lay the foundations of what our team has become today. Without your early belief, hard work, and spirit, Rising Motorsports would not be what it is.

“Secondly, to our amazing sponsors, from the smallest supporters to the biggest backers – thank you. Your belief in us, your generosity, and your unwavering support have meant the world. We truly couldn’t have done this without you.

“Thirdly, to everyone in the MX motorsport industry who we’ve met, worked alongside, and learned from over the past eight years, thank you for guiding us, inspiring us, and sharing this journey. It’s been an incredible ride.

“We hope that, in some small way, we’ve been able to give back to the sport and community that has given us so much. Every moment, every race, every challenge, every triumph has been something we’ve cherished deeply.

“From the bottom of our hearts, thank you to everyone who has been part of the Rising Motorsports story. We’ve loved every minute of the journey and are forever grateful to have shared it with you all.”

The 2025 season has marked one of Rising’s strongest yet, headlined by Zac Watson’s impressive fifth-place finish in the MX1 standings of this year’s Penrite ProMX Championship aboard the Triumph TF 450-X.
Now, Watson and teammate Jack Byrne (SX2) are currently sidelined with injuries, both following Redcliffe’s AUSX 2025 double-header. A timeline for their return is yet to be confirmed as the series’ final two rounds approach.
