Extent of wrist injury to be confirmed following additional scans.
A practice crash will sideline ClubMX Yamaha’s Coty Schock for this weekend’s Hangtown National, with further scans to determine the extent of damage to an injured right wrist.
The 28-year-old confirmed the injury via social media today, explaining that given the nature of the incident, the outcome could have been worse.
“I wanted to come on here and give an update,” explained Schock. “I had a practice crash yesterday – not ideal, nobody’s fault… just a freak thing. It’s dirt bikes and it’s part of it – it’s not a matter of if but when.
“I didn’t get knocked out, [and] I took a one-way trip to ‘endo-nesia’. The FLY helmet was amazing. I cracked the shell of it, but remember everything – no signs of a concussion and, realistically, what I have walked away with after my gnarly crash is my wrist.
“X-rays are not showing anything, it just hurts,” he continued. “I just got back from a CT scan, and we are looking for the results so we can dive into it a little more. As of now, no break, I just need some time to rest.”
Schock recorded a 20th-place finish overall at the Pro Motocross season-opener last Saturday, racing to a 16-22 moto scorecard amidst a stacked 250MX division at Fox Raceway. No timetable has been given for his racing return.
