National MX1 champion Kyle Webster will enter Appin under an injury cloud after injuring his shoulder at last weekend’s Hangtown round of American Pro Motocross in a guest appearance with Quad Lock Honda.

After finishing 13th at Fox Raceway, Webster qualified 19th at round two and then circulated inside the top-10 during the early laps of moto one, before crashing out and damaging his shoulder.

While Webster was initially attended to for a shoulder dislocation, the extent of any damage hasn’t been confirmed and it is understood that the 30-year-old will use qualifying on Sunday morning to assess his fitness and to determine if he will be able to complete the motos.

“Yeah, it wasn’t ideal,” Webster told MotoOnline. “I had a crash in the first moto at Hangtown and tweaked my shoulder a bit. It’s been a busy week getting home and trying to get on top of that, but I’m back now and just landed in Sydney.

“So, we’ll definitely be at Appin. Qualifying will be the first real test to see how the shoulder feels, so we’ll have to play it by ear from there.”

Webster comes into round five of the Penrite ProMX Championship positioned second in the 450 class standings, but a full 40 points behind runaway title-leader Jed Beaton (Monster Energy CDR Yamaha) with four rounds remaining.
