National MX2 number one Alex Larwood has recounted his ‘wild experience’ on debut at the 2026 Monster Energy Motocross of Nations (MXoN), individually claiming eighth overall in the MX2 division at Ernee.

Honda Racing regular Larwood – alongside Jed Beaton and Aaron Tanti – formed an all-domestic line-up for the 79th edition of MXoN, running the number 1-2-3 plates earned by Jett and Hunter Lawrence and Kyle Webster with their victory at Ironman last year.

The 22-year-old Larwood finished 10th in Saturday’s MX2 qualification heat, before recording 21-21 results across Sunday’s motos, ranking eighth among the 250 contingent and helping Team Australia to secure ninth overall for the event.

“Wrapping up MXoN in Ernee, it was definitely a tough day on track,” reflected Larwood. “It was pretty rutted and rough, and it’s a bit of a wild experience coming from home and not really racing anything quite like that.

“I tried my best and did everything I could’ve done. I think I went 21-21, which we will learn from, but the fans were mental – you could barely hear your bike at times because the fans were roaring that hard, but it was an awesome day.”

Larwood’s progression in 2026 has been evident, clinching his first professional title in Australian motocross this year, while also impressing in select rides with Quad Lock Honda in the American Pro Motocross Championship. MXoN was another pivotal point in his career.

“I don’t even know if I can [describe the feeling of representing Australia] – I can’t really put it into words,” he continued. “It’s pretty remarkable, even thinking back three years ago, I never would’ve thought I’d be representing Australia at MXoN.

“I thought that goal was far-fetched, but this year has seen big progress… I think I have made a big step [forward], and it’s definitely showing. A massive thank you to everyone who supported us over here.”

Larwood will now shift his focus towards starting his Australian Supercross Championship SX2 campaign in New Zealand at the end of the month, joining his Honda Racing teammates in Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross upon arriving at Auckland’s North Harbour Stadium.
