Todd, Connolly, and Larwood to spearhead the SX2 category.
Honda Racing has unveiled its preliminary roster for the upcoming 2025 Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship commencing in Redcliffe this October, with former champion Dean Wilson leading the SX1 charge.
Wilson returns to Australia after achieving championship success this year in British Arenacross, as well as Brazilian Supercross, in addition to filling in with Honda HRC Progressive during the latter stages of Monster Energy Supercross.
After falling short of last year’s AUSX crown to teammate Joey Savatgy – who is instead focusing on World Supercross this season – the 2023 title-winner Wilson is eyeing championship number two across the five-round series in 2025.
“It’s been an amazing season, winning my first UK championship, claiming the Brazilian championship, and racing with HRC in America,” commented Wilson. “Many of these opportunities have come from being part of the factory Honda program in Australia. Returning for a fourth year feels like home and my goal is clear – I want my second Australian title.
“Losing last year stung, the AUSX Supercross Championship carries weight worldwide. To come so close was tough, but that only fuels me more this season. The team’s history of winning speaks for itself and I want to add to that legacy.”
Team director Yarrive Konsky added: “Dean continues to prove he belongs among the world’s best. His speed and professionalism helped him capture major international titles this year, and we believe he has everything it takes to deliver another championship for Honda.”
Honda Racing has indicated that another full-time SX1 rider will be named to the title-winning organisation, with the possibility of a third – likely from its Quad Lock Honda connections – to be called in at select rounds that don’t clash with World Supercross. Reigning ProMX champion Kyle Webster isn’t expected to be starting AUSX in 2025.
For the SX2 division, Brodie Connolly, Alex Larwood and outdoor MX1 regular Wilson Todd have been named as Honda’s 250 class representatives, while Kayd Kingsford will contest the SX3 class. Additional international rider announcements for SX2 and SX3 are also expected.
“Our Honda program has built a reputation for excellence and loyalty,” continued Konsky. “With Dean leading the charge, supported by a deep roster across all classes, we’re aiming to continue Honda’s championship streak and strengthen our place in the sport.”
It’s understood that both current AUSX champions Savatgy (SX1) and Shane McElrath (SX2) will shift their focus to World Supercross in addition to their existing American exploits, with a date clash between the Gold Coast round of WSX and AUSX’s Adelaide Grand Final having an impact on their ability to contest both series in 2025.
