A newfound fractured left fibula will end 250SMX champion Jo Shimoda’s 2026 Monster Energy Supercross campaign, expecting to return in time for the Pro Motocross opener at Fox Raceway on May 30.

Despite initial scans following St. Louis not indicating any broken bones, Shimoda’s non-displaced fracture won’t require surgery. He currently sits fourth in the 250SX East standings.

“Jo is a resilient competitor and we’re confident he’ll make a full recovery,” said Brandon Wilson, manager of Racing and Experiential at American Honda.

“We fully expect him to be a contender for the 250 AMA Pro Motocross crown and to fight hard in defense of his SuperMotocross championship. Our team will provide all the support he needs during his rehab to ensure he’s ready to compete at the highest level.”

With Shimoda, Jett Lawrence and Chance Hymas currently sidelined, Honda HRC Progressive is anticipating that all four team riders – including Hunter Lawrence – will be fit for the outdoors this summer.
