Popular Western Australian Regan Duffy will contest the 2026 Australian ProMX Championship as part of an independent, WA-based program in a continuation of his national racing resurgence.

Duffy, 23, is being based out of his home state after spending much of his professional career based on the east coast, most recently residing on the Gold Coast as part of Todd Waters’ Raceline Husqvarna TDub Racing Team last season.

In 2026, Duffy will contest the national motocross championship in MX1 on Yamaha YZ450F machinery, leaving his equipment on the eastern side of the country while flying back and forth between rounds.

“For this year, [I’m] pretty much doing my own team,” Duffy told MotoOnline. “Myself and Sonny Pellicano – he was in MX3 last year and a young WA guy – we’re doing something together, and our parents are coming together to help with that, as well as Berry Sweet.

“It’s sort of like a three-way sponsorship type thing, plus [I’m] going to have Lusty [Industries] heavily onboard supporting that as well. We’ve also got support from Yamaha, which is new for me.

“So yeah, basically we’re just doing our own team based out of WA – going to go full old school. We’ll have a big box van that we leave over east with our bikes and toolboxes and stuff in it, and just yeah, pretty much do it as they did it in the ’90s, so I’m really looking forward to it.”

Duffy explained that the move back to Western Australia aligns with broader life goals, with additional work set to complement his racing schedule.

“For me, it’s nice to be home,” he continued. “I’ve been going over east since I was 14, so I think it’s time that I stay home for a little while and, yeah, I can hang out on the farm and learn a bit more.

“Obviously, after racing [ends], it comes to that time where I need to do something, and I’m not the child prodigy I once was, so sort of looking past motocross a little bit as well.”

Duffy endured a turbulent season last year, underlined by a fractured T12 vertebra sustained in a crash at the Manjimup 15,000 in June. He returned to racing at QMP’s ProMX finale, but an AUSX campaign was later ruled out due to ongoing health complications stemming from his life-threatening incident in 2021.
