Australian supercross calendar yet to be confirmed for 2026.
Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship organisers are continuing to evaluate its status as part of the Adelaide Grand Final for 2026, not ruling out a potential transition to South Australia’s MotoGP street race from next year.
Supercross has featured alongside the Repco Supercars Championship for the past two seasons, but it’s understood that the high-profile motorsports festival is yet to firm on this year’s AUSX calendar.
While the upcoming schedule is yet to be released publicly by promoter AME Group, sources suggest that a provisional version being circulated behind closed doors does not include Adelaide at this time. According to AME director Adam Bailey, discussions are ongoing with the government-led South Australian Motor Sport Board.
“The conversation is still live at the moment,” Bailey told MotoOnline. “They want us to come back and we have a great relationship, but we’re still trying to figure it out with the rest of our schedule and if it could work again for both parties.
“To have 260,000 people with the opportunity to check out supercross has been a great opportunity for the past couple of years, but at the same time we feel like we need to assess that against the importance of being inside a stadium and have our full entertainment package for fans, under lights, etc, and ensure the best possible showcase for the sport.”
While the South Australian fixture of AUSX has also marked the series’ final round and benefits from the immense exposure of the Adelaide Grand Final with over 285,000 fans in attendance across the three days last year, ensuring that the AUSX product authentically aligns with the sport’s identity is of increasing importance into the future.
It was officially revealed last week that the Australian round of the MotoGP World Championship will move from Phillip Island to Adelaide from next year in a landmark agreement, which is set to utilise a variation of the previous Adelaide Grand Prix Circuit that hosted Formula 1 between 1985-1995.
That configuration would extend directly past the heritage-listed Vic Park Grandstand that sits adjacent to where AUSX has been staged within the Victoria Park precinct during recent years, in addition to an upgraded pit complex and facilities that span towards the Fullarton Road side of the park where the sizeable supercross paddock has largely been situated.
With MotoGP being planned for early November 2027, and importantly ahead of the Supercars weekend, hosting AUSX on the grand prix weekend instead would also move the event forward on the calendar, which could make way for the AUSX Open in Melbourne to double as the championship finale for the first time since 2023.
It’s unclear when the 2026 AUSX Supercross Championship calendar will formally be released, expected to be as many as five events – building upon the four of last year – with a return to New Zealand also reported to be high on the agenda for the new season.
