Initially tore UCL during the opening round of Pro Motocross.
Surgery on a torn UCL will force Colt Nichols out for the remainder of the 2025 season, including the final three rounds of Pro Motocross and the upcoming SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) playoffs.
The Twisted Tea Suzuki rider initially damaged his right thumb in a crash at Fox Raceway’s opening round of the outdoors, but has been racing on despite his injury.
“Not the news I want to share, but I finally had to get my thumb fixed this past week,” Nichols confirmed. “I originally tore the UCL ligament in my right thumb at Pala and had a few little crashes at Southwick and RedBud that really did it in.
“It was a struggle all summer to hang on, but I just really wanted to race and be behind the gate. I’m going to do everything I can to heal up and get back ASAP.”
Nichols currently sits 18th position in the 450MX standings after scoring a season-high ninth overall at Washougal last time out. He’s also ranked P14 in the SMX points.
