A shoulder injury sustained at Anaheim 2 has brought an early end to the Monster Energy Supercross season of Chance Hymas, with surgery to repair his left labrum set to sideline him until Pro Motocross in May.

Hymas was involved in an awkward first-turn collision during the 250SX main event after earlier claiming a convincing heat race victory, putting his arm out to break the fall.

That impact resulted in a dislocated shoulder, which was reset on site by the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit. Further scans revealed the extent of the damage and the need for surgery, electing to return to racing at the outdoor season-opener on May 30 at Fox Raceway.

“It wasn’t the best start on my end, but I was still in a decent position coming into the first corner,” Hymas recalled. “Another rider crashed, which ultimately took me down as well. Unfortunately, when I put my arm out to catch myself, I put it in a weird position and ended up dislocating my shoulder.

“It’s devastating on my end going through everything I went through to get back into racing shape, but fortunately, I have a good group of people around me that support me 100 percent. All things considered, the team and I decided it’s in my best interest to get my labrum repaired this Friday and turn my focus to being 100 percent healthy and ready for outdoors.”

Hymas had been sidelined for an extended period in 2025 with a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) sustained at the fourth round of Pro Motocross at High Point, before returning to Supercross at A1 this year and scoring a runner-up result.

The injury cloud continues to loom over Honda HRC Progressive in 2026, with Hymas joining both Jo Shimoda and Jett Lawrence on the sidelines, while Hunter Lawrence will fly the sole flag for the team in the 450SX division.
