Extent of the injuries yet to be confirmed by Monster Energy Kawasaki.
Monster Energy Kawasaki has announced that hip and lower back injuries sustained while preparing for Daytona have ruled Chase Sexton out of round eight of Monster Energy Supercross 2026.
Sexton currently sits fifth in the 450SX standings with a single victory to his credit at Anaheim 2, but has finished in the five-to-seven range since.
An official update from Kawasaki confirmed the breaking news this afternoon: ‘Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Chase Sexton will miss round eight of Supercross due to injuries to his hip and lower back sustained while prepping for Daytona. Stay tuned for updates on Chase and his return to racing.’
The opening seven rounds of the Supercross season have largely centered around bike setting revisions for Sexton onboard the factory KX450SR, still searching for a base that he can build upon despite their early success together by winning round three.
It is unclear how extensive Sexton’s injuries are at this point or if there is any concern that he will be sidelined beyond the annual Daytona Supercross this Saturday, with Indianapolis scheduled for next week, following by the first off-weekend of the 2026 season.
Update: Chase Sexton will remain sidelined for this weekend’s Indianapolis round, Kawasaki confirmed on social media: ‘Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Chase Sexton will miss round nine of Monster Energy Supercross as he continues to recover from his injuries sustained prior to Daytona Supercross.’
After the weekend off, Sexton has since returned to riding, but will remain sidelined for Birmingham’s 10th round, the team confirmed on social media: ‘Monster Energy Kawasaki rider Chase Sexton returned to riding this week, but will remain focused on his recovery following injuries sustained prior to Daytona Supercross.’
