Unfortunately back on the sidelines following return last weekend.
Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing’s Casey Cochran has been forced out of 250SX this weekend after sustaining further injury on return to racing in Detroit.
Cochran’s season in the eastern division had been delayed due to a broken collarbone sustained prior to round one in February, before he returned to action last weekend.
While he hasn’t specified his injury, the 19-year-old referenced another impact on his previously injured collarbone post-race at round 11 of Monster Energy Supercross. He attempted to ride this week, but the decision was made to take additional time out ahead of St. Louis.
“The heat race and qualifying were decent in Detroit, for not having had too much time on the bike,” commented Cochran. “Then, unfortunately, I slid out in the main event and landed on my injured collarbone. We weren’t able to finish the race, but we’ll get it checked out – hopefully everything is all good – and we’ll be back.”
Cochran was relatively competitive on return alongside teammate Daxton Bennick, qualifying in 10th position and then finishing fifth in his heat race. He was circulating just outside the top 10 when he went down in the early laps and had to exit the main event.
The Rockstar Energy Husqvarna team will have Malcolm Stewart, Ryder DiFrancesco and Bennick on track this weekend, while RJ Hampshire won’t be returning until the Pro Motocross season-opening round in May.
