World champion reflects on troubled Pro Motocross campaign.
A revealing social media post from Jorge Prado saw the reigning MXGP champion admit that ‘cruising around every single race was heartbreaking’ during a troubled first American Pro Motocross campaign with Monster Energy Kawasaki.
Prado, 24, has been unable to find common ground with the Kawasaki team or its factory KX450 outdoors in 2025, but maintains that he gave 100 percent on-track despite his discomforts.
Sixth place overall in the 450MX standings with season-high results of P5 at both the Ironman and Southwick nationals was a far cry from his potential, according to the outspoken Spaniard, who stated that he ‘never felt comfortable on the bike’ in comments following Budds Creek’s final round.
“P6 overall in the Pro Motocross standings – it was a very tough season to say the least,” reflected the four-time world number one. “Cruising around every single race was heartbreaking for me, especially knowing my capabilities.
“Never felt comfortable on the bike, not even a bit! This builds to an unsafe feeling on it… [I] didn’t expect this year to go this way at all. Happy to be in one piece and fit, hopefully we’re back where we belong soon.”
Following the initial response, he later moved to clarify his comments: “With cruising, I meant that I couldn’t ride to my full potential, even though I gave 100 percent and had to set myself to ride at a safe speed.”
Fractures have become increasingly apparent between both Prado and Kawasaki just one year into a three-year commitment together, with speculation continuing to mount that they could sensationally part ways as soon as the end of the current SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) season.
