Multi-year factory contracts confirmed beyond 2026 season.
Highly-rated Belgian twins Lucas and Sacha Coenen have made multi-year commitments with Red Bull KTM Factory Racing, extending their contracts with the Austrian manufacturer beyond the upcoming 2026 season.
The 19-year-old brothers have been exceptional since their full-time arrival as professionals in 2023, establishing themselves in the MXGP and MX2 world championships.
In what was his rookie campaign onboard the 450 SX-F, Lucas achieved P2 in last year’s premier class standings courtesy of six overall victories, while Sacha was fourth in the MX2 series after delivering a career-first GP win in China.
“I’m really pleased to extend my contract with Red Bull KTM, and the goal for 2026 is to give the best account of myself every weekend,” said Lucas. “I want to thank the factory and the team for believing in me and my family, and for doing their best to understand the plan for my career. We know our objectives and will chase them as hard as we can.”
Sacha added: “I’m really happy to sign again with Red Bull KTM, but before we think too much ahead, I have to say I am really looking forward to 2026. We’ve made some good steps, and I think we are ready to show everybody that we can ride at the front and battle for the world championship. We’ve improved the bike and we’re quite strong.”
After spending time in the United States during the current off-season, it’s understood that the duo’s long-term plans are to take on the Monster Energy SMX World Championship, with this latest KTM extension expected to strengthen a US pathway.
“Lucas and Sacha are special talents, each with their own strengths, but with the common bond of a passionate and committed family,” said KTM motorsports director Pit Beirer. “It was important for us to maintain our story and journey together at the highest levels of the sport, and for 2026, that means an exciting season in both MXGP and MX2 and then seeing where we can put targets. They are both still very young, but have already set a standard – it will be fun to see what they can do next.”
The Coenens will line up as part of the De Carli faction of Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team for the 2026 season at least, with the MXGP World Championship season-opener taking place in Argentina from March 7-8.
