An early crash in moto two at Ironman saw Dylan Ferrandis notch his first and only DNF of Pro Motocross 2023, with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider later revealing ‘I’m pretty sore, but fortunately I’m okay’ on his way to second in points.

Ferrandis has been battling the effects of the sickness since the break prior to Unadilla, but was determined to end his 450MX campaign on a high note.

The number 14 qualified third at the final round, having work to do after a mid-pack start in race one. He quickly made his way to ninth on the opening lap, then battled his way to third, where he would ultimately finish the encounter.

Ferrandis launched to the holeshot in the second moto, until a crash at the third corner saw him withdraw from the race, concluding the day 11th overall but securing second overall in the final 450MX standings.

“I was still not feeling my best after my illness from last week, but we gave everything we had and I felt good on the bike, which is most important,” recalled Ferrandis.

“In the first moto, I was struggling a bit physically, but a bad start didn’t help. I had to pass many good riders and come back through the field, so third was the best I could do in that moto.

“In the second one, we got a great start but had a big crash and unfortunately didn’t finish. I’m pretty sore, but fortunately, I’m okay. We’ll rest up and keep working to get back on top in these new SMX races.”

This is a contract year for Ferrandis and his future beyond the upcoming SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) is not yet officially confirmed, with speculation linking Cooper Webb to join Eli Tomac – and likely Justin Cooper – in the team’s premier class line-up.
