For the first time in 2024, Max Anstie grabbed the win in the 250SX main event as he fought his way to victory in Philadelphia. In one of the closest races of the year, Anstie was able to move around early race leader Seth Hammaker to take the lead and collect his second career Supercross victory in the process.

The FirePower Honda rider got into second place early in the race behind Hammaker aboard his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki. Anstie made the pass for the lead with about five minutes left in the race and was able to just sneak away as chaos ensued behind him. While Hammaker and Triumph Racing’s Jalek Swoll were battling for second place, the two came together and both ended up on the ground. That allowed Red Bull KTM’s Tom Vialle through to take a massive second place result. Vialle had started well down the order and charged all the way to second in the end to extend his championship lead out to 15 points with one round remaining.

His title counterpart Haiden Deegan on his Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing machine followed Vialle all the way through the field to third after both riders had bad starts. They were battling with Troy Lee Designs Red Bull GasGas rider Pierce Brown for the podium positions on the final lap when Brown ejected off the bike over the finish line double. Brown was fortunately alright, but was left to settle for 14th.

Star Racing’s Daxton Bennick then picked up a strong fourth place finish just ahead of Team Honda HRC’s Chance Hymas. Both rode somewhat lonely races and benefitted from leaders going down, but each left with solid results to show for it.

Rounding out the top 10 spots then were Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha’s Coty Shock in sixth, Hammaker in seventh, Swoll in eighth, Toyota Redlands BarX Suzuki’s Preston Boespflug in ninth, and Star Racing’s Nick Romano in 10th.

Anstie’s win puts him just five points back of Brown for third in the championship with just the one round remaining. Everyone aside from Vialle and Deegan are now mathematically eliminated meaning it’s down to just the two of them two weeks from now in Salt Lake City.
