Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Dylan Ferrandis has described round seven of the 2023 Pro Motocross Championship at Spring Creek as ‘a difficult day’ despite managing to land on the podium in third overall.

A tough opening moto saw Ferrandis only able to fight his way back to P5 by the time the checkered flag flew, later bouncing back to take a respectable third place in the final outing of the day.

Ferrandis’ 5-3 was enough to overcome Red Bull KTM’s Aaron Plessinger, who finished 4-4 in the motos. Both riders finished the round with 36 points, but the better second moto handing Ferrandis the spot on a countback.

“Not really a good day for me,” said Ferrandis. “But we’re sitting here on the podium at the end of the day, so it’s still okay, but obviously, we still want more.

“It’s not an easy situation right now, to me the track was terrible today – I really didn’t like it. I’ve ridden this track pretty much every year for the last seven years, but this year was the worst… Maybe I need to talk to my buddy Jim Martin and ask him what is wrong.

“I definitely didn’t like the track, it was very scary and very tricky. It was very hard to do different lines and find a way past. But, it’s the same for everyone, it was just a difficult day for me today.”

The 2023 Pro Motocross Championship heads to the famous Washougal circuit this Saturday, 22 July, for round eight. Ferrandis currently sits second in the 450MX standings, 81 points behind series leader Jett Lawrence (Team Honda HRC).
