The one-off Pro Motocross Championship appearance for Ken Roczen at High Point began with a splash on a rain-affected track as the Progressive Insurance Ecstar Suzuki rider set the high mark in the premier class leading into the motos, while Haiden Deegan did the same in 250MX.

At 2:21.066s, Roczen’s best time in the first 450MX qualifying outing put 2.609s between himself and Team Honda HRC’s undefeated rider Jett Lawrence on the combined timesheet.

After Lawrence in second, Garrett Marchbanks was quick enough for third aboard his Muc-Off FXR ClubMX Yamaha, leading Dylan Ferrandis (Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing) and Adam Cianciarulo (Monster Energy Kawasaki) in completing the top five.

Standout privateer Ty Masterpool landed sixth in the premier class, 4.597s of Roczen and 1.988s in arrears of Lawrence.

Derek Drake (BarX Suzuki), Cooper Webb (Red Bull KTM), Aaron Plessinger (Red Bull KTM), and Jerry Robin (FCC Motosports) comprised the remainder of the top 10.

In the quarter-liter division, the final lap turned in by Deegan, of Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing, in the first 250MX session stood strong as the fastest lap in the class.

Debuting in the professional ranks, Matti Jorgensen is scored second on the combined timesheet, coming within 0.217s of Deegan on their respective best laps.

Points leader Hunter Lawrence (Team Honda HRC), Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Jo Shimoda, and privateer Steve Roman representing Hillview Motorsports completed the top five.

A high-speed crash in the second session for championship contender Justin Cooper will sideline the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing rider for the remainder of the track activity in Pennsylvania as he left the track in order to further evaluate an upper body injury.
