Arlington 1 qualifying topped by Musquin and Cooper

The qualifying sessions from round 10 of the 2021 Monster Energy Supercross series in Arlington are now complete, with Marvin Musquin taking the top spot in 450SX and Justin Cooper topping the timesheets in 250SX West action.

As the afternoon action came to a close it was Marvin Musquin taking the top spot on the timesheets in 450SX qualifying, with a blistering 44.120s lap. He was followed closely by Jason Anderson (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna) and Cooper Webb rounding out the top three spots.

Dylan Ferrandis continued the solid qualifying form he’s shown throughout the season, taking fourth place on his Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha followed by Eli Tomac (Monster Energy Kawasaki) who rounded out the top five with a 44.551s lap.

Red-plate holder Ken Roczen’s lap from the first round of qualifying put the Team Honda HRC rider in sixth overall. He’ll look to find his way back to the podium as the gate drops this evening, following back to back fourth-place finishes.

Seventh place went to Team Tedder KTM’s Martin Davalos who clocked a 44.679s lap in qualifying two, for one of his better qualifying performances of the season.

Chase Sexton ended the afternoon in eighth place. The Team Honda HRC coming into the weekend after a week full of dentist trips following his incident in last weekend’s qualifying at Daytona.

Ninth was Malcolm Stewart (Monster Energy Star Racing Yamaha) who was closely followed by Dean Wilson who rounded out the top 10 as the first rider in the 45s range with his 45.018s lap.

Justin Barcia’s qualifying effort saw him back in 12th, the TLD Red Bull GasGas rider was followed by last week’s podium finisher Plessinger in 13th.

In 250SX West action is was Justin Cooper continuing his dominant qualifying form this season with a 45.299s lap to top the timesheets. The Monster Energy Star Racing rider has now led every qualifying session so far this season as he looks to return to the podium following a fourth-place finish at Daytona.

Rookie standout Seth Hammaker put his Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki in second overall. The young gun finished just ahead of red-plate holder and teammate Cameron McAdoo in third, as fourth went the third member of their team Jordon Smith.

Hunter Lawrence (Team Honda HRC) rounded out the top five, the young Australian continuing to build momentum following his offseason injury. Sixth was Alex Martin (Yamaha) who was the first rider in the 46s range with his lap of 46.007s.

Seventh was Muc-Off Honda’s Mitchell Harrison, with Garrett Marchbanks (ClubMX Yamaha) and Chris Blose (GasGas) just behind him.

Rounding out the top 10 was last week’s podium finish Pierce Brown who had a rough go early on in the day. The TLD Red Bull GasGas rider crashed in the opening practice session of the day suffering what looked to be an injury to his hand. He managed to continue through qualifying, logging a 46.460s lap.

Rookie Stilez Robertson who is fresh off his first-ever podium finish in 250SX competition finished the qualifying sessions in 13th place with a 45.566s.
