Presence expanded across Pro Motocross and the SMX World Championship Final.
The American Women’s Motocross Championship (WMX) is set to take a significant step forward in 2026 after being added to the SMX League ahead of the new season following a breakout year for the category. The move formally integrates the championship into the SMX framework, while also welcoming presenting partner Synchrony.
WMX will again feature at six rounds alongside Pro Motocross, while also stepping onto the SuperMotocross stage with a showcase race at the Monster Energy SMX World Championship Final in September.
“The WMX was a bright spot for the sport last season and will break new barriers entering the 2026 campaign,” said Carrie Coombs-Russell, CEO of MX Sports Pro Racing. “This is a landmark moment for the WMX and all female enthusiasts within the motocross community.
“We have long been committed to providing a platform for the fastest women’s racers to compete and now have a true global stage to showcase their talents with vital partnership support. Women’s athletics as a whole is finally receiving the attention it deserves, and we’re thrilled that excitement and embrace has expanded to include our corner of the sporting world.”
Racing in 2026 will be spread across two days at each round, with moto one contested on Friday and moto two on Saturday alongside the Pro Motocross Championship. Saturday’s inclusion will ensure broadcast coverage of all six rounds on Peacock, while international audiences will be able to follow the championship via SMX Video Pass.
The season will begin at the Hangtown Motocross Classic on June 5-6, before heading to Thunder Valley and High Point Raceway. Following a mid-season break, the championship will be decided across a three-round run at Unadilla, Budds Creek and the final stop at Ironman.
