Webb to call time on Pro Motocross career after 2026

Supercross and SMX to become the focus from next season.

Triple 450SX champion Cooper Webb will call time on his Pro Motocross career at the conclusion of the 2026 outdoor season, instead focusing on Supercross and SMX from 2027 onward.

The 30-year-old has formally confirmed that the upcoming season – which begins at Fox Raceway on May 30 – will be his last, before shifting his attention toward a supercross-only schedule across 2027 and 2028.

“So I am here to address the elephant in the room – the big rumor going around – that is true, that this will be my final year racing the Pro Motocross series,” former 250MX champion Webb announced.

“I think for me, I’ve done my time. My body still feels good, but as we know, the outdoor series is a whole other grind and like last year, I tore my knee up racing it and had to get surgery. I don’t really have the same flair in motocross as I used to.

“There’s obviously been a lot of [other] rumors going around – the biggest one is that I will be racing in 2027 and 2028. I can’t tell you too much more than that, but it’s for sure going to be a done deal. I will be racing outdoors this year on my Star Racing Yamaha.”

Speculation around Webb’s future at Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing has increased, with the arrival of Haiden Deegan adding intrigue to the team’s premier class roster beyond 2026 when Webb becomes a free-agent – broadly linked to Team Tedder and a potential switch to factory specification Husqvarna machinery next year.

In confirming that a supercross-only deal is in the works, the possibility opens for an expanded international schedule for Webb that could include an increased World Supercross Championship campaign after making a one-off appearance as a wildcard in the Australian Grand Prix last year.

“As we know, I really specialize in supercross, and I am 30, so [we] had a good run and I want to continue racing, but I want to race where I feel like I excel a little bit more,” he continued. “[That] is Supercross in the US [and] we’re looking at maybe other avenues of racing supercross, as well, around the world.

“I will be racing 2027 and 2028 AMA Supercross and SMX, for sure. I feel like if I did supercross-only, it would give my body and mind the little break it needs during the summer to reset for SMX and potentially another supercross series.”

Webb finished third overall in his Monster Energy Supercross Championship 450SX title defense this season, scoring a single round victory at the Houston Triple Crown alongside seven additional podium finishes.
