Opening moto collision results in early retirement on Saturday.
A collarbone injury drew an untimely end to Mikkel Haarups’ Unadilla National on Saturday, with a mid-air collision during the opening 250MX moto forcing an early retirement from the weekend for the Triumph Factory Racing rider.
Qualifying sixth during the morning sessions, his participation in the afternoon’s racing began by featuring inside the top 10 in race one, battling for position until an incident with 12 minutes remaining on the clock ended his race weekend altogether.
“My day ended quite quickly,” commented Haarup post-race. “I had a good qualification and a decent start in moto one, and I was just starting to flow when I connected with another rider in the air – that caused me to fall, and I suffered a collarbone injury.
“[I’m] getting checked up and put back together. Shout out to my team for the help and the hard work – appreciate all the positive energy.”
The extent to which his collarbone is damaged remains undisclosed, as well as a timeline for a return to racing. Haarup is currently placed sixth in 250MX with seven top 10 finishes to his credit, as one round remains in the 2025 season.
