Double 250MX champion Haiden Deegan has provided insight into his expectations ahead of his upcoming Pro Motocross Championship premier class transfer this summer, expressing that he has set some ‘insane goals’ as he targets early success in 450MX.

Anticipation has been building since it was announced last August that the 20-year-old would line up in 450MX this year with the Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing organization, as select World Supercross SX1 appearances in 2025 added further intrigue to the full-time switch.

Currently defending his 250SX West class title in Monster Energy Supercross, Deegan will step up to a factory YZ450F for the outdoors this summer, which commences at Fox Raceway on May 30 and marks the next chapter in his evolving career.

“My goal right now is to obviously win the 250 title in Supercross,” Deegan explained in an SMX pre-season interview with Ricky Carmichael. “And then outdoors and SMX, I have some really insane goals in my head that I want to accomplish that I’m not going to say, because I don’t really need to spin people out right now.

“But, it’s like… I have massive goals. That’s what I write for myself, and it was the same thing I did coming out of amateurs into pros, and I went and accomplished all of them. So it’s like, you’ve got to put big goals that you can work towards, but the people goals that I’m going to tell you, [is] I’m obviously going to go out there and do my best each weekend.”

In addition to his title-winning speed, Deegan has been impressively consistent since his full-time professional debut in 2023, having made it to the start line for all races – both indoors and out – since then.

This has allowed continuity and experience without disruptions, and has led to a decorated 250 career which includes two 250MX titles, two 250SMX world championships, and last year’s Western Divisional number one plate in Supercross.

“The goal is to obviously make all the rounds, too,” he added. “I feel like I have done really well at that in my career. I have never missed a round – I mean, I still raced [SMX] Vegas – I just crashed out of the last race, [but] I have never actually missed a round. I’ve been safe, and I feel like that is what’s gotten me so far in my career, too.

“I’ve had so much learning time, and just laps on laps on laps. So my goal, obviously, for 2026 – [is] go for that Supercross title, [and then] for outdoors and SMX, just be there, and it would be nice to be up front.”

Two rounds into the 2026 Monster Energy Supercross Championship, and despite finishing off the podium at Anaheim 1, Deegan currently holds a single-point advantage over teammate Max Anstie following his San Diego victory last weekend.
