Sixth overall in 250SMX a strong way to rebound.
Sixth overall in the 250SMX SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) standings marked a strong conclusion to the 2025 season for Ty Masterpool, who has conceded that he is ‘not sure what next year holds’ regarding his racing future.
In his first full season as part of the Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki outfit, Masterpool endured a challenging indoor series that saw him crash out of the single 250SX West round contested.
A broken hand in the lead-up to the RedBud Pro Motocross National made for a patchy outdoor campaign, where he finished 16th overall in 250MX. A recent return to form in the SMX post-season saw the 23-year-old finish with 10-4-5 overall scores across the three rounds.
Following the tumultuous season, Masterpool admitted that nothing was certain as to how the 2026 season would unfold.
“I’m definitely a little bummed [with the season], but there is still a lot of good to take away from it,” reflected Masterpool post-race. “The first moto tonight, I was cleaned out and came back from dead-last, so I was pleased with how everything felt despite the fall in that one.
“I’m not sure what next year holds, but I have a good group of people around me – a good close circle – and at the end of the day, I am blessed. I’m looking forward to next year. I’m healthy and feel like myself again, even if the results didn’t really show it, but I’m excited to get to work for 2026.”
The Mitch Payton-led organization has signed Garrett Marchbanks to another one-year deal after a breakout 2025 season, with Levi Kitchen having re-upped for two more seasons in May, taking him through 2027.
Seth Hammaker and Cameron McAdoo’s deals also extend beyond this season, while 250MX Rookie of the Year Drew Adams holds a contract for the 2026-2027 seasons.
