Detailed: 2027 Ducati Desmo450 MX

Italian manufacturer updates Desmo450 MX and Factory models for 2027.

Ducati has unveiled its updated 2027 Desmo450 MX and Desmo450 MX Factory models, introducing a range of technical refinements aimed at improving performance, ergonomics and durability following the Italian manufacturer’s first season of motocross competition.

Just one year after entering the production motocross market, Ducati continues to develop its off-road platform, drawing on feedback from racing to refine the Desmo450 MX. The latest updates focus on enhancing the riding experience, while strengthening key components for improved reliability.

Among the most notable changes for 2027 is a revised final drive ratio, with a 51-tooth rear sprocket designed to deliver stronger drive out of corners. Redesigned gear shift and rear brake pedal tips improve rider ergonomics, while a larger 40mm fuel cap makes refuelling quicker and more convenient. New Pirelli Scorpion MX32 tires also feature, providing traction and performance suited to modern motocross circuits.

Durability has been another focus of development, with Ducati revising several components throughout the motorcycle. These include updated starter motor gear tolerances, a redesigned water pump oil seal with Teflon coating and a reinforced exhaust manifold connection. The chain guide support, fork slider guards and front engine mounting brackets have also received attention to improve resistance to wear and impacts.

An additional development comes in the form of a predictive maintenance system, available through an accessory Wi-Fi module. By analysing motorcycle usage data, the technology adjusts recommended engine maintenance intervals according to actual riding conditions, allowing owners to better manage servicing requirements.

The Desmo450 MX retains its distinctive Desmodromic engine configuration, delivering strong low-to-mid-range torque and competitive top-end performance. Its lightweight aluminium frame and advanced electronics package also carry over, including Ducati’s patented motocross traction control system, which manages rear-wheel spin to improve drive and control.

And specific to the United States market, the 2027 model will receive dedicated suspension settings and revised triple clamps featuring a 20mm offset in place of the previous 22mm configuration.

Completing the updated package for the new year is a revised livery, featuring black logos in place of the previous white design to give the 2027 Ducati Desmo450 MX a sharper, more race-inspired appearance.

The 2027 Ducati Desmo450 MX Factory also adopts those latest upgrades, while retaining its race-focused specification that includes an Akrapovic titanium exhaust system, factory-treated Showa suspension, billet triple clamps and a standard holeshot device. A Wi-Fi module enables electronic adjustments through Ducati’s X-Link app, while a revised Ducati Corse livery featuring red and black branding further distinguishes the model.
