An unintentional collision with another rider during the second 250MX moto at Budds Creek left Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Julien Beaumer with a concussion upon impact, in an incident that ultimately brought out the red flag.

BarX Yamaha-mounted Parker Ross had crashed before the mechanics area in the race’s opening stages, and as he remounted Beaumer tagged the rear-end of his bike at speed, which sent the 19-year-old to the ground.

Slow to rise, the race was red-flagged in favor of safety to Beaumer and the Alpinestars Mobile Medical Unit representatives, with the team moving to detail the extent of his incident in the aftermath of the Budds Creek National.

“The morning qualifying started pretty well for us at Budds Creek, it was nice to see Julien maintain the pace he had at Unadilla,” explained Red Bull KTM team manager Ian Harrison. “In the second race, he ended up having a big wreck right in front of the mechanics area, and unfortunately was concussed.”

The incident added to what has been a challenging Pro Motocross season for Beaumer, who started well with 5-4 finishes across the Fox Raceway and Hangtown Nationals. A second moto fall at High Point would eventually result in time spent on the sidelines, before a return at the final three races saw him claim P5 at Unadilla.

He went on to qualify P4 at Budds Creek on the combined 250MX timesheets before posting a 12th-place finish during the opening encounter after a bad start.

In a social media post, Beaumer added: “Rough weekend… [It’s] been a long and tough outdoor season, but I’m going to assess the situation with the doctors this week and update you guys on my progress and plan.”

The teenager, who finished second in 250SX West, is currently ranked seventh in the SuperMotocross World Championship (SMX) standings, with Playoff 1 commencing at North Carolina’s zMAX Dragway on September 6.
