Despite labelling it a mid-season slump, Eli Tomac’s P5 in Detroit was enough to capitalize on Hunter Lawrence’s misfortunes and reclaim the 450SX red plate. With six rounds remaining, the points lead has shifted back in his favor.

An unforced error from then points-leader Lawrence proved costly, throwing away the red plate and turning a potential 11-point advantage into a four-point deficit. The question now is whether he can reset and return to the composed form shown in recent rounds.

Placing sixth in his heat set the tone for Henry Miller – inside on the 53 – who made the most of momentum to secure a career-best P5 in 250SX East for MX6 Racing Kawasaki.

Dylan Ferrandis made a seamless return from injury with Troy Lee Designs Red Bull Ducati, slotting straight into P7 as if he hadn’t missed a beat. It was the Frenchman and Ducati’s best result of the year!

Nate Thrasher’s resurgence came undone early in the 250SX East main event, crashing out of the lead after displaying a promising share of speed. It was shaping up as a return to form before it abruptly ended.

It’s a different dynamic when Monster Energy Supercross rolls into Detroit’s Ford Field. With no traditional pit area or Fan Fest, the sight of 450SX and 250SX East bikes weaving through city streets en route to the stadium is a unique part of the weekend.

Jorge Prado and Cooper Webb came together early in the 450SX main event, both hitting the ground in a costly incident. It was an uncharacteristic moment for Webb and a setback that doesn’t help his title defense.

Talk about making the most of an opportunity… Nick Romano continued to build in just his second race of the season, finishing P6 now as part of Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki.

This was a popular one! Malcolm Stewart returned to the podium with P3 after a challenging start to the season. Can he rediscover the form that saw him win in Tampa last year?
