American Lux Turner will debut Yamaha’s new generation 2027 model YZ250F in the upcoming Boost Mobile AUSX Supercross Championship, formally announced to be returning with Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha for the 2026 season.

After claiming the opening three SX2 round wins last year, Turner’s championship charge was ultimately cut short after he sustained a fractured wrist in a practice crash at the AUSX Open Melbourne.

Currently contesting this year’s Monster Energy SMX World Championship with Toyota Redlands BarX Racing on board the current YZ250F, Turner will switch to Yamaha’s upgraded variant for AUSX, which begins in Townsville on October 3.

“I had a great time in Australia last year and am looking forward to coming back for this year’s championship,” commented Turner. “Everyone was nice to me last year, and I see how the Australian fans have reacted to Lala [Lachlan Turner], so I can’t wait to get back and spend some time racing.

“I have been in regular contact with the team, and we have become close friends. I know they will have everything sorted for me, and it’s my job to get it done on the track. I fly in just before Townsville and will stay until after the final round. I have never been to New Zealand before, so that will be cool.”

Turner – whose sister Lachlan Turner clinched the Australian WMX title with the Yamalube team this year – will be joined by full-time Monster Energy Yamalube Yamaha 250 class rider Noah Ferguson in AUSX, who will also be equipped with the 2027 YZ250F in SX2.

In his first season with BarX in SMX, Turner equalled his career-best result of 10th in the final 250SX West standings and currently sits 16th in the 250MX class of Pro Motocross. He recently signed a two-year contract extension with his US team – expected to transfer to Husqvarna machinery next year.
