An incident during qualifying brought an early end to the Washougal National for Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Caden Dudney, with the decision made to withdraw from the remainder of the weekend as a precautionary measure.

The 17-year-old had already entered Washougal under an injury cloud following his heavy moto one crash at Spring Creek, with the high-speed impact also bringing a premature end to his participation at round seven.

While he posted the ninth-fastest qualifying time on Saturday, the 250MX newcomer was absent from the motos as both rider and team prioritized his recovery ahead of the final three Pro Motocross rounds, beginning at Unadilla on August 15.

A statement from the team read: ‘Caden Dudney showed speed from the start of the day, but unfortunately had a crash in qualifying. As a precaution, the decision was made that it was best for Dudney to shift his focus to Unadilla and sit out the Washougal National.’

Both highs and lows have defined Dudney’s first full 250MX campaign, with second overall at the season-opener remaining the highlight of 2026. He also finished sixth overall at RedBud and sits 15th in the championship after eight rounds.
