Monster Energy Kawasaki has formally released Jorge Prado from his long-term contract following a disastrous single season together.

Kawasaki released a statement this afternoon confirming the Spanish double MXGP champion has exited the factory organization.

“Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A. has reached a settlement for the early release of Jorge Prado from his Kawasaki rider agreement, effective October 16, 2025,” the statement read.

“Kawasaki wishes the best for Jorge in his future endeavors. Monster Energy Kawasaki is hard at work in preparation for the 2026 SMX World Championship and will announce its 450 Class and 250 Class SuperMotocross racing team in early November.”

Off the back of two MXGP world championships with the De Carli-operated Red Bull GASGAS Factory Racing Team and with minimal experience in Monster Energy Supercross following a largely promising four-round stint last year, the 24-year-old signed a three-year deal to join Kawasaki in the US full-time from 2025.

Prado was injured early in the 450SX series after going 14-12 at the opening two rounds, before finishing sixth in 450MX outdoors with season-high results of fifth at Southwick and Ironman, and then the decision was made that he would sit out the post-season altogether.

It’s unclear what his plans are for 2026, despite typically being linked to a reunion with Red Bull KTM and remaining in the Monster Energy SMX World Championship. Long linked to Chase Sexton, Kawasaki is also yet to confirm who it will bring in to replace Prado and outgoing former teammate Jason Anderson – already been announced at Twisted Tea Suzuki.
