Prepared to do ‘whatever it takes’ to win 250SMX title this weekend.
An all-in approach for this weekend’s SMX Final in Las Vegas has been outlined by Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Seth Hammaker, indicating that he’s prepared to do ‘whatever it takes’ to win the 250SMX title.
Hammaker has been consistent throughout the opening two post-season playoffs, earning P2 finishes in both Charlotte and St. Louis, but a five-point penalty at zMAX Dragway following a red cross flag infringement could prove costly.
This sees the 24-year-old positioned third overall on 78 points entering the last round, 14 down on new series leader Jo Shimoda (Honda HRC Progressive), with the season-ending finale set to hand out triple points on Saturday night.
“It would definitely be nice to get the championship and kind of get some redemption for what happened in Supercross,” commented Hammaker. “Going into the last round, I feel like – after the experience I went through in Salt Lake City – [I’m] a bit more comfortable and a little bit calmer next weekend.
“I’m a little bit… I’m not out of it by any means, but anything can happen. At this point, a lot of money is on the line, all of us will do whatever it takes to get that win, and I’m going to put my best foot forward, try to execute starts, and put that stuff behind me if I can and see how it plays out.”
Hammaker narrowly missed out on this year’s 250SX East championship after an incident with title-rival RJ Hampshire (Rockstar Energy Husqvarna Factory Racing) in Salt Lake City, which enabled Tom Vialle (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) to clinch a second-consecutive crown.
