Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Mitchell Harrison raced to his best overall and moto finish of the Pro Motocross season, finishing his home track campaign at RedBud with 6-4 moto scores to end the day fifth overall. His teammates overcame adversity at the second of two Michigan races with Cameron McAdoo finishing 11th overall (19-7) and Darian Sanayei, who was still nursing his hurt shoulder, scoring 21st overall (18-19).

The hometown boy Harrison didn’t have the showing he was hoping for on Friday and was more than ready to bounce back on Monday. He changed that by starting off the first moto with a top-five start and held on to finish sixth, tying his best moto result of the season. Harrison’s second moto was even better after another great start that put him fourth, the spot he maintained until the end. The fourth in Moto 2 was his best of the season, awarding him fifth overall.

“It was nice to redeem myself a bit from Friday because I felt good, but those results didn’t show it,” said Harrison. “I am thankful to be able to put it in the top five for the team. They’ve worked really hard and I want to keep the solid results going for them. It will be nice to get a little break, but I want to bring the momentum to Spring Creek.”

McAdoo came off a good showing on Friday and was feeling more comfortable on the track. He got a top-10 start in the opening moto and was pushing hard with the front runners. Unfortunately, he went down on Lap 3 and had to work his way back up from 31st. McAdoo would make it back into the points to score 19th in Moto 1. In the second moto, he proved he was capable of running in the top 10. He got out to a ninth-place start and continued to push, eventually crossing the line seventh for 11th overall.

“I know I’m much better than the result I had today, but mistakes ended up costing me,” said McAdoo. “Knowing I’m able to be up there with those guys is huge for our confidence and lining up each weekend knowing we can be there. We’ll take the off-weekend to regroup and keep plugging away at our first podium.”

Sanayei continues to be on the mend and the rough track was especially tough for his injured shoulder. That didn’t stop him from going out each time and giving it all he had. In Moto 1, he started in 11th, but a few hiccups on the track pushed him down to 17th. He held on as long as he could and finished the moto in 18th. Moto 2 saw Sanayei start 17th, and he put in a heartfelt effort to finish 19th by the checkered flag, scoring him 21st overall.

“The track was tough and constantly changing,” said Sanayei. “Just when you thought you had a clean line, it wasn’t as good the next few laps. I am really happy we get a weekend off to hopefully help my shoulder get a bit stronger before coming back for another go at it.”
